Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Specialist
Dr. Keith Flak is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist who treats a wide range of sports injuries as well as more common musculoskeletal conditions.
Dr. Flak provides compassionate care for both adult and pediatric patients. He expertly treats joint pain, sports injuries and pain conditions, as well as complex injuries, with the most recent techniques and procedures.
Educated in Texas and Virginia, he has a background in general medicine, sports medicine and orthopedic surgery. He has worked in private practice for the past four years and has served as the team physician for a number of professional, collegiate and regional sports teams.
Dr. Flak takes an individualized approach to the care of his patients and is a partner in their treatment. He aims to help each patient return to his or her usual, active routine or desired level of sports activity.
Committed to continuous learning, Dr. Flak stays on the leading edge of sports medicine diagnosis and treatment, including minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Flak performs all surgical procedures at a number of Woodlands-area healthcare facilities: Lake Woodlands Surgical Center, Memorial Hermann Hospital, The Woodlands; St. Luke’s, The Woodlands Hospital; Houston Northwest Medical Center and Tops Specialty Hospital.
Dr. Flak received his B.S. degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his M.D. degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed an internship in orthopedic surgery at the Virginia Commonwealth School of Medicine at the University of Virginia and a fellowship in sports medicine at the Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore.
With years of sports medicine experience, Dr. Flak has treated hundreds of professional and young adult players. He has worked as a team physician with the Baltimore Ravens and the Washington Nationals. In addition to his work with professional teams, Dr. Flak gained sports medicine experience working as the team physician with the Johns Hopkins men’s lacrosse team, Morgan State University men’s football team, Virginia Commonwealth University men’s basketball team and the Loyola University women’s soccer team. He currently serves as the team physician for Caney Creek High School and New Waverly High School in Texas.
Dr. Flak is an active member of the Texas Medical Association and the Texas Orthopaedic Association. He also is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
